What is your job, and how long have you worked for ZITON?
I am currently the Resource Manager at ZITON, and I have been with the company since 2000. My role centres on matching the right technicians to the right projects, making sure every job is resourced with the correct skill sets and that teams are built and ready to deliver.
What does it take to perform at your best in your job?
To perform at my best, I rely on team spirit, staying organised, and planning ahead. Keeping a clear overview of who is available, where they are needed, and what is coming up next means I can react quickly when plans change, which happens often in this industry.
What is the most challenging part of the job for you?
The most challenging part of the job for me is making sure each project has the correct skill set of technicians for the scope of works. Matching the right people to the right project, often at short notice and while juggling several jobs at once, takes careful planning and a good overview of everyone’s skills and availability.
What motivates you to go to work every day?
No two days are the same. I thrive on successfully bringing the right teams together for each project, whether that means being at my desk one week or out on site another week, kitted out in ZITON PPE, or welcoming new technicians to the ZITON family on their induction day. It is this variety, together with knowing I have helped set a project up for success by getting the right people in place, that keeps the job exciting.
What do you think is the most remarkable or exciting case you have worked on? And why?
I think it was when I first started with ZITON on a blade campaign. I was amazed by everything involved in the project, and after only a couple of weeks, I was able to go on my first visit aboard a ZITON vessel, the WIND SERVER, which remains my favourite vessel for that reason. That early experience gave me a real sense of what ZITON’s work involves, and it sparked an enthusiasm for the offshore industry that has stayed with me ever since.
How has your work developed you as a person?
I was given the opportunity to join an industry I knew very little about. However, I was keen to learn and understand the offshore industry and the part ZITON plays within it. ZITON allowed me to show my potential and has supported me throughout, and I started out as an Administrator before progressing to Projects Coordinator, Project Manager, and now Resource Manager. That steady support, and the chance to keep learning and taking on more responsibility along the way, is a big part of why I have stayed and grown here.
Why is this your dream job?
You are listened to and heard, and you are valued no matter what your role. We all work as one to make it a successful and enjoyable company, and everyone’s contribution matters, from the office to the vessels. That sense of being part of one team, working towards the same goal, is what makes it such a positive place to work every day.
What do you like to spend your free time doing?
In my free time, I enjoy spa days, beach walks, music festivals, and holidays, as well as spending time with my seven-year-old granddaughter, who keeps me busy and makes the most of every visit.
