What is your job, and how long have you worked for ZITON?
My job as Head of Contractors is to handle everything related to working on the wind turbine, including technicians, documentation, and equipment. I lead and distribute tasks that need to be taken care of to ensure we are 100% compliant and ready to provide the service we are hired for in the best possible way.
I have been working at ZITON since 2021. I started as a project manager, and about a year later, I got the role as Head of Contractors.
What does it take to perform at your best in your job?
It is a big advantage to have industry knowledge regarding both the technical parts in a wind turbine and the maritime operational environment.
In my specific job, the ability to handle people is the most important. You have to be able to put together the right team, including everyone from project managers to the people in the warehouse and the technicians. It is a long chain of tasks, and each link must be taken seriously for everything to work together.
What is the most challenging part of the job for you?
The most challenging part is the changeable environment regarding planning. Everything has to fall into place at the right time and place.
When the customer has a problem and is ready, there has to be a ship available. There has to be a main component available. And the weather has to allow us to perform our task.
When these four things are in place, there is no excuse. Then the technician just has to be ready.
If either the ship or the component is delayed, or if the weather is bad, everything gets postponed. This affects the technician’s private calendar, and nobody wants that.
Therefore, it is important to have the ability to adapt and be flexible. But, on the other hand, that is also what makes it cool in the end.
What motivates you to go to work every day?
It means a lot to me that we have the right team with the right attitude and team spirit. I am very passionate about that.
What do you think is the most remarkable or exciting case you have worked on? And why?
When I started as a project manager, we worked on the Meerwind blade campaign, which was an incredibly complex project. There were blades for 80 turbines, which had to be transported back and forth.
It was executed as planned, and everything went really well despite many challenges. When you know the barriers compared to the output, it was a really great piece of work. I will never forget it.
How has your work developed you as a person?
I am motivated and happy to go to work every day. It is rare to experience it to this extent, I think.
The organisation is built in a way that makes it fun to go to work. We are a unit that works towards a common goal, and that makes it a little easier and more enjoyable to go to work.
Why is this your dream job?
It is because here you can work with the things that you enjoy and that motivate you.
You have a lot of freedom to organise your everyday life, and trust from management to act on your own. There is not a long way from planning to execution. It is a very lean organisation, without bureaucracy, where our main goal is to get started with our job.
What do you like to spend your free time doing?
In my free time, I like to go hunting, and I also spend time doing acrobatic flying.
