DBB Jack-Up’s new purpose-built vessel J/U WIND SERVER has just completed her first large commercial operation performing commissioning support during the turbine commissioning of the Borkum Riffgrund 1 project in the German North Sea.
Having supported work on more than 50 turbines during the three months’ charter for Siemens AG – DBB Jack-Up’s WIND SERVER has successfully demonstrated the advantages of bringing-in smaller jack-up vessels to provide support during the installation phase:
- Increased efficiency – possibility of running both day and night shifts.
- Consecutive operation – no time spent on waiting for delivery of tools and spare parts.
- Access to lifting facilities – the vessel’s main crane is available 24/7.
- Walk to work – no time spent on transfer from turbine platform to accommodation vessel.
- Safer operation – no risk of climbing towers from CTV’s in rough weather conditions.
- Swift repositioning – the vessel has its own DP2 system.
- Stable platform – independent from waves and sea conditions.
- Increased comfort – technicians are fit to work as soon as they arrive at the wind turbine.
